About Katherine Dolphin Griffin
Katherine Dolphin Griffin is a mother, sister, wife, teacher, self-published author and cancer survivor.
Cancer is something that, unfortunately, has been a part of her life for many years as her Dad also had cancer on 5 occasions. He lost his 5th battle on World Cancer Day 2017 having battled for 9 years.
Because of her unfinished business with cancer, Katherine wrote and self published her book of short stories, Hope to Cope and launched the Hope to Cope fundraiser. The aim of this fundraiser was to raise €100,000 for cancer services in Ireland between World Cancer Day 2022 and World Cancer Day 2023.
Having achieved this very ambitious target, Katherine used these funds to purchase 2 cars for the palliative care nurses at Marymount Hospice where her Dad had passed away and gave the remaining €50,000 to the Irish Cancer Society to go towards a PhD student’s salary who was completing cancer research.
As a result of the people Katherine met during this fundraising campaign and the stories she heard, she is now launching the Hope to Cope charity for cancer survivors and their loved ones to support, network, advocate and fundraise for survivors.
About Emily Murphy
Emily Murphy is a Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist & Registered Intellectual Disability Nurse.
After working 10 years within Healthcare Services, Emily has experienced all aspects of how our mental wellbeing can be impacted.
Along this path she has discovered that it is not always the status quo type of treatment that works, but often meeting the person where they are, and adapting the service around them.
During her time working in the HSE, Emily discovered a passion for more in this area and wanted to pave the way for more equal and fair services for people who needed support with their mental health.
Emily owns her own business, The Mind Mechanic. The current focus of The Mind Mechanic is on creating Mindset Manuals that can support teenagers while they navigate these tough years.
Emily believes that if we are given the tools we need, that suit our way of learning and understanding, we can become our own Mind Mechanic and navigate life a little bit easier.
